Inkplan is an iPad app for drawing plans on a timeline with Apple Pencil. It needs iPadOS 17 or later and works best in landscape.
How do I make a plan?
Tap Quick Plan on the Plans screen. Choose Draw and draw a horizontal line across the days with Apple Pencil: that line is your first task. Or choose Template to start from a ready plan, then change anything you like. All templates are also under Templates in the sidebar.
Which Pencil gestures are there?
- Horizontal line across the days: a new task. It snaps to whole days.
- Short vertical tick on a day: a milestone.
- Strike through a task: it is marked done.
- Circle several tasks: they are grouped into a phase.
- Draw from the end of one task to the start of another: the two are linked, and the second depends on the first.
Can I use Inkplan without a Pencil?
Yes. Apple Pencil draws; fingers pan, zoom, select and drag.
- Tap a task to select it.
- Double-tap a task to rename it.
- Long-press a task, then drag, to move it.
- Pinch to zoom, from a whole year down to single days.
- Double-tap with two fingers to return to Today.
Without a Pencil, the easiest start is a template.
What is the Ghost preview?
When a change pushes later tasks, for example when you lengthen a task that others depend on, Inkplan shows where they would land as a Ghost preview, together with a banner. Apply accepts the change, Review lists the tasks that would move, and Undo takes it back. Nothing changes until you apply.
How do undo and redo work?
Use Undo and Redo in the toolbar. They cover every gesture, so it is safe to try things out.
How do I export a plan?
In a plan, open the plan menu and choose Export…. Choose the range (Whole plan, Visible, or Selected phase) and the format.
- PNG is free. On the free tier it carries a small “Made with Inkplan” footer.
- PDF export, and export without the footer, are part of Pro.
A file is created and shared only when you choose to.

Pro is sold as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time Lifetime purchase that never renews. The App Store shows the price before you confirm. The full terms are in Settings → Terms of Use.
Where are my plans stored? Is there a backup?
Your plans are stored in Inkplan's own database, never on a server of ours, and they stay on this iPad unless you turn on iCloud backup. There is no account, and Inkplan has no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
Encrypted iCloud backup is part of Pro and stays off until you turn it on in Settings. When it is on, Inkplan encrypts a snapshot on this iPad and writes it to your own iCloud Drive. A backup is restored only when you tap Restore.
Deleting the app deletes the plans on this iPad, but not an iCloud backup you made: that stays in your iCloud Drive until you remove it. When you turn backup off, Inkplan asks whether to delete the snapshot or keep it.
How do I restore a purchase?
On a new iPad or after reinstalling, sign in with the same Apple Account and tap Restore purchases, on the Pro screen or in Inkplan's Settings. This restores Pro, not your plans; plans come back from an iCloud backup, if you made one.
How do I change the language?
Inkplan speaks English, 简体中文, Español, Français, Português (Brasil) and 日本語, and follows your iPad's language. To pick a different one for Inkplan only, open Settings → Language in the app.
